Friday, December 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM, The Trumbull County Engineers’ Office and Howland Township will hold a press conference with Flex Strut Inc. at their newly expanded facility located at 2900 Commonwealth Avenue, Warren. The press conference will be held at the Mill Street entrance of Flex Strut Inc.

A $282,000 public funding package comprised of an Appalachian Regional Commission grant, Ohio Department of Transportation funds, and local resources was used to improve access roads in the Golden Triangle Industrial area.  Waterlines were extended to provide a more reliable water source to the area and fire hydrants were added to improve fire safety for the area businesses.  Funds were also used to realign, widen, and reconstruct both Mill Street and Supreme Street centrally located in the Golden Triangle.

This project was recommended in the Golden Triangle Infrastructure Improvement Plan. The plan recommends several infrastructure improvement projects in the Golden Triangle area to help with the growth of the businesses located there. “We are making good progress in seeing the plan through” Rick Clark, Chairman of the Howland Township Trustees. Mr. Clark attributes the success of this project to “the collaborative spirit of the Golden Triangle Partners and the business leaders."

According to one of those business leaders, Flex Strut’s President and General Manager, Dale H. Gebhardt Sr, “The project helped our company realize our latest expansion of 13,000 square feet this year, which is our 5th expansion to the facility over the past 20 years, bringing the plant total to 115,000 square feet.”  Mr. Gebhardt added that “with excellent coordination by the Trumbull County Engineers, the project was completed in less than six months.  We have had excellent cooperation from all the Golden Triangle Partners to complete this project in a very expeditious fashion.”

The public improvements to Mill and Supreme Streets benefited not only Flex Strut Inc., but Thompson Mechanical, and the new Fastenal facility located on the corner of North River Road and Larchmont Avenue.
