At the December 21st Trustees Meeting, Howland said goodbye to a long-time Fireman and the Police Chief and said hello to a new Police Chief.

Fred StosikFred Stosik began his tenure at Howland in the Police Department and after several years joined the Fire Department. Fred has over 30 years of service as he retires. Including his years prior to the township, Fred has 50 years in EMS service! He has touched many lives over those years and the township will miss him, but we wish him well on his retirement.

Paul Monroe

Paul Monroe has served as Howland Township’s Police Chief for 13 years and on the department for 29 years. During that time, Paul has left many positive marks on the reputation of the Howland Police Department. Paul has turned deficits into carryovers, while at the same time earning the respect of those under his command. Chief Monroe was more than a desk supervisor. He was actively involved on the street and kept a close connection to the cases investigated by the department. Paul will also be greatly missed here at Howland Township, but we are supporting him in his next role in law enforcement as the new Trumbull County Sheriff!

Nick RobertsAt the meeting, Paul handed over the reins of the HPD to the new Chief, Nick Roberts. Nick has served as the Assistant Police Chief for the last 5 years and has been with Howland Police since 2004. Nick has worked his way through the ranks to be a well-respected member of the force and a leader. As a matter of fact, he was recommended for the position by the rank and file of the HPD. Nick will take over officially as Police Chief on January 3rd. We wish him will well in his new position!
